Continuous-conduction-mode boost converter with reduced reverse-recovery loss

A continuous-conduction-mode boost converter with reduced reverse-recovery loss is proposed. By utilising the auxiliary winding of the boost inductor, two additional rectifiers and an auxiliary inductor, the current decrease rates (di/dt) of the boost output rectifier and two additional rectifiers are slowed down to reduce the reverse-recovery loss. Experimental results for a 600 W power factor correction AC/DC boost converter at a constant switching frequency of 100 kHz are obtained to show the performance of the proposed converter. It is shown that a significant efficiency improvement is achieved.
