A summary of stress models for continuous casting billet in solidification process

This paper analyzes briefly several stress models set up by different authors for continuous casting billet in solidification process.By assuming the steel mechanical properties between 800℃ and 1500℃,A.Grill has set up a model based on finite element method and computes the stress field from a knowledge of the computed temperature gradients and the roll pressure;The model set up by K.Sorimachi improves the A.Grill model.He supposes that the mechanical properties of steel at continuous casting temperatures(800~1500℃) can only be related quantitatively to temperature and strain rate.And the strain rate has been taken to be constant at 10 -3 s -1 ,Other variables are ignored;Cai Kaike takes the billet surface reheating into account,and establishes a heat transfer and elastic-plastic stress model.
