On Line Diagnosis of Induction Motors for Additive and Short-Circuit Windings with Extended Kalrnan Filter

Abstract This paper proposes a new application for parameter online estimation for induction motor, which is used in a model-based fault diagnosis. The induction motor is described by non-linear differential equations and an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) estimates three parameters (rotor resistance, stator resistance and magnetising inductance). The diagnosis system proposed here is a parity equations scheme for additive faults, sensors and actuators, and multiplicative faults using parameter estimation. The parameter estimation allows short-circuit winding turns. In this case a comparison is made with the current frequency test to fix the threshold.
