A Strategy for Design and Development of Complex Knowledge-Systems

The full approach as presented here exists only at a theoretical stage, although it is founded in the concrete work done on communicating agents and role-reversal in the Nat*Lab project, and in particular on experience gained during the implementation of the “NOBILE” prototype [McIntyre & Cheli 90]. Nevertheless, it appears to represent a promising possible line of research, in that it offers a means of acquiring knowledge from experts within the context of familiar yet highly-structured activities, and allows the knowledge acquired to be automatically organised in a structured fashion, suitable for subsequent implementation in a knowledge-representation formalism.
