A Study on the Effects of Different Presentation Modes on Vocabulary Learning

This paper reports on a study in which the author tried to find out the results of vocabulary learning with two different presentation modes-a teacher's teaching with elaboration methods and students' learning with group-work based on the theory of elaboration and cooperative learning.The two classes of students were homogenous in terms of their English proficiency,which was verified by analyzing relative data.In the experiment,the participants in the two classes first learnt the words with the two presentation modes mentioned above respectively.Then,they took two tests on the words learned.And the results of the tests were worked out through SPSS 12.0.In short,teachers and students can cooperate together to improve the efficiency of English vocabulary learning.
