Experimental investigation of processes arising when flooding a steel melt

The results of experiments on the interaction of a steel melt with water flooding its surface are presented. The investigations were conducted using induction melting furnaces of various scales with the mass of the melted metal as great as 130 kg. The qualitative characteristics of the processes were found and quantitative estimates of this interaction were obtained at various temperatures for various compositions of the melt with or without a melted light oxide above the melted metal.
