Uncracked Filter와 Cracked Filter의 PM 배출 특성에 관한 실험적 연구

Several problems with exhaust gas emitted by diesel engine must be solved. Especially particulate matter(PM) is the major concerns. To reduce emission of diesel soot, diesel particulate filter(DPF) has become widely known as an indispensable after-treatment component of the purification of the PM in the diesel exhaust gas. Recently, the many studies published concerning that the nano-particles are the harmful effect on the human body. So PM emission regulation is changed from the mass regulation to the number regulation. Due to tightening emission regulations, the monitoring for DPF is required. As monitoring term of DPF, the research is needed on the emission characteristics of PM number(PN) according to the level of crack of DPF. In this study, the experiments were performed using a 7.6L DL08S heavy duty engine, and test cycle used in this experiments is ESC mode. The experiments were conducted on the emission characteristics of PM number(PN) depending on the level of cracked DPF. Through these experiments, we can determine whether DPF is the failure. Therefore, the emission characteristics of PN is very important parameter for the monitoring about DPF.
