An Annotated Bibliography of Music Education Research Journals

D igital communication technologies such as fax, email, and the Internet have provided enhanced opportunities for music educators to correspond on national and international scales with a level of immediacy not heretofore possible. This interaction has highlighted the need for accessibility to research worldwide. To foster music education research, we decided to compile an annotated listing of research journals in music education. The goal of this project is to provide a sense of the quantity and diversity of researchbased journals that exist in music education. It is our hope that the dissemination of this listing will promote music education research interchange. Additionally, this should provide a useful tool for graduate students and music educators in expanding their perspectives and knowledge of resources. We would like to thank the journal editors who responded for taking time to contribute this information.
