Pandemic influenza A (2009‐H1N1) infection in paediatric oncology patients in Hong Kong

RIC allo-SCT in children showed that this transplant modality was safe, effective and feasible, and, given the limited availability of funds to carry out conventional transplants, this outpatient procedure is standard practice in our centre (Gómez-Almaguer et al, 2003; Llano et al, 2008). Our group has previously reported good results in adult patients with AML and RIC allo-SCT, showing a 50% overall survival. Despite the low number of patients reported and the short follow-up, our data suggest that RIC allo-SCT in paediatric AML patients after first remission produces encouraging results (GutierrezAguirre et al, 2007).
