An experimental equation on surface impedance of short carbon fibers and apply to wave absorber

A design method of a wave absorber using short carbon fibers is proposed in this study. The measured results of the absorption characteristics show that the absorber has two-matching frequencies. Designing of the absorber was performed by estimating the surface impedance calculated by the measured absorption characteristics. Absorption characteristics was calculated by transmission theory using the estimated surface impedance. As the results, calculated absorption agreed well with the measured ones. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
