Method and apparatus for providing message service in mobile communication system

Disclosed is to secure continuity of a short message service (SMS) in providing the SMS in a mobile communication system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for operating a control node for providing a message service in a mobile communication system comprises: a step of receiving a message from a terminal or from a message transfer center; a step of determining an activated state or an inactivated state of a message service using a first interface; and a step of transmitting separation request information for re-accessing the terminal to the terminal when the message service using the first interface is in an inactivated state.
