Plasticity of Metrical and Dynamical Aspects of Saccadic Eye Movements

Efficacy of saccadic eye movements presumes both high metrical response precision and postsaccadic eye stabilization. Appropriate performance is maintained by adaptive mechanisms based upon the evaluation of visual reafference. Two series of experiments are presented which compare properties of the adaptive control of saccade metrics with the adaptive response to consistent post-saccadic retinal image motion. The findings are discussed in the context of current models of saccade control.
