Multimodal Robotic Device to Assistive and Rehabilitation Tasks

The paper presents the development of a new concept of assistive robotic device which can be exploited for assisting people as needed, taking into account their residual physical and cognitive abilities, and, at the same time, increasing their cognitive and physical abilities during the fulfilment of daily routines (drinking, cooking, eating, washing, self-cleaning). The results of the experimental trials, performed employing a fuzzy logic system for the generation of modulation functions based on the estimation of the user emotional state, are reported.
