Performance analysis of opportunistic scheduling in multiple antenna cellular systems

The performance of opportunistic scheduling in multiple antenna cellular systems was studied based on the Wyner cellular system model.Extreme value theory is used to analyze the signal to interference and noise ratio(SINR) of the selected user with independent opportunistic scheduling to derive a closed-form solution for the average capacity. The relationship between the average capacity and the number of users per cell is also analyzed. Both analysis and simulation results show that the interference signal power received at the selected users is independent of the number of users, whereas the multiuser diversity gain achieved by independent opportunistic scheduling in multiple antenna cellular systems is lglgK,where K is the number of users per cell.
