A Wideband LNA Based on Current-Reused CS-CS Topology and Gm-boosting Technique for 5G Application

A wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) operating within 11.8-37.2 GHz for 5G multi-band application is presented. Based on the topology of current reusing common source and common source (CS-CS) stages, the proposed LNA demands less dc power and achieves wideband gain and wideband input matching simultaneously by reactive transformer feedback (S11<-12dB). Meanwhile, owing to the application of Gm-boosting technique, the LNA shows the maximum power gain S21of 12.5 dB, and the noise figure (NF) is from 2.95 to 4 dB. The power consumption of this design is only 5.4 mW, while the IP1dBis -11.8 dBm at 28 GHz. The whole chip including the PADs occupies an area of 0.25 mm2with 65-nm CMOS process of TSMC.
