Point-to-point microwave power transmission experiment

The Kansai Electric Power Company has succeeded in aerial microwave power transmission in cooperation with Kyoto and Kobe universities. We used a parabola antenna with a diameter of 3 m for the transmission antenna, and a square-shaped rectenna (an abbreviation of rectifying antenna) array measuring 3.2 m × 3.6 m for the receiving antenna. The distance between the transmitter and the receiver was 42 m. A received power of 0.75 kW was obtained at a transmitted power of 5 kW. © 1997 Scripta Technica, Inc.
