Integrated hall-based magnetic platform for position sensing

We present here a single-chip platform for Hall-based magnetic sensing. When configured as an angle sensor, the achieved accuracy of 0.5 ° improves the state of the art of Hall-based integrated angle sensors targeting automotive applications (with extended temperature range up to 160 °C. This is achieved thanks to a low offset front-end (< 15 μV) and individual trimming of the Hall element sensitivities. The platform, realized in a standard 0.18-μm CMOS technology, contains 12 sensing Hall elements. The chip layout is compatible with various integrated magneto-concentrator (IMC) geometries. This allows the platform to serve diverse magnetic sensing applications (e.g. 3D magnetometer, 2-angle joystick).
