Recuperation Strategies for electric vehicles

Improvement of the cruising range is one of the main research challenges regarding full electric vehicles. An optimised recuperation strategy can help to enlarge the range without an extension of the accumulator capacity. In this paper, different recuperation strategies are illustrated and discussed. Measurement results concerning achieved recuperation energies in field tests with currently available elctric vehicles are presented to give an overview of state-of-the-art technologies. Restrictions of currently used strategies are identified and approaches are introduced.
