celebrated result there is Morley's theorem, which is proved in the sixth chapter. David Marker's explicit goal is to integrate these two approaches in a way which permits each to enlighten the other and to develop model-theoretic methods which allow proofs of sophisticated theorems in modern algebra, and the closing result of his book, Hrushovski's proof of the Mordell-Lang conjecture on algebraic varieties and function fields, is a good illustration of this.
