A Modified MMSE Receiver for Quantized MIMO Systems

We investigate the joint optimization of quantizer and linear receiver for the quantized multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channel. Our approach is based on a mean square error (MSE) criterion, taking into account the effects of quantization. An essential aspect of our derivation is that we do not make the assumption of uncorrelated white quantization errors. The performance of the modified filter as well as the effects of quantization are studied theoretically and experimentally. Furthermore, we provide a lower bound on the capacity of this channel. Through simulation, we demonstrate the usefulness of our approach.
