Image Edge Detection Based on Adaptive Selection the Value of Structure Element of Mathematical Morphology

Selecting an appropriate value of structure element is a difficulty in mathematical morphology area. This paper brings forward an adaptively optimizing algorithm for the values of structure elements using in image edge detection. It varies the values according to the changes of gradients of different areas in an image. The result demonstrates that this method performs better in enhancing image edge than ordinary structure elements.
