BEARING CAPACITY AND WATER PART 1: MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION AND INSTRUMENTATION

In the Danish Road Testing Machine a full-scale test pavement is constructed to provide a tool for investigation and verification of pavement design procedures and principles. The test pavement is considered to be a model as it is located indoors in a climate chamber, in a concrete pit, allowing control of groundwater level. It will never be exposed to "live" traffic, but only precisely designed load distributions. The test pavement was built and instrumented for measurement of pavement performance and response to traffic and climate loads. All materials, construction steps, and instrumentation is reported. Measured values of stress and strain under Falling Weight Deflectometer loadings are reported as well.
