Chaotic Progressive Access Control for JPEG2000 Images Repositories

The paper proposes a progressive access control scheme for JPEG2000 image codestreams based on chaotic maps. The access control scheme provides the possibility to access partially decrypted images from a single encrypted JPEG 2000 stream. The underlying encryption algorithm is based on chaotic permutations of pixel gray levels, positions, and wavelet filter coefficients. Depending on the key provided to the user, the decryption process will stop at a given resolution. The two major characteristics of the access control scheme is that it provides a unifying encryption-compression approach and is fully compliant with the JPEG 2000 encoding process.
