Contribution of Aerodynamics for Future SCT

The validation of the DLR Navier-Stokes solver for aerodynamics prediction of Supersonic Commercial Transport (SCT) is reviewed. Aeroelastic effects in supersonic flow experiment are demonstrated numerically. Mesh density and turbulence model effects on flow topology and aerodynamic coefficients at transonic and subsonic speeds are described. The potential of aerodynamic optimization is demonstrated by typical generic SCT applications at supersonic cruise conditions.
