MODELLING WALK LINK CONGESTION AND THE PRIORITISATION OF CONGESTION RELIEF

This paper started by setting out some of the major weaknesses in London Underground Ltd.'s (LUL's) Network Model as preceived at the end of 1989. It has set out the approach taken to incorporate the effects of walk link congestion, seen to be the largest modeling deficiency, and has highlighted one particular problem that can arise. The paper indicated how vital such improved modeling capability is to London Underground as it prepares its substantial investment program and has shown how further improvements will permit greater confidence in the results in the future.
