An efficient software/hardware architecture for the IEEE 802.11n block ACK mechanism

Block ACK mechanism has been proposed in IEEE 802.11e to improve medium access control (MAC) layer performance. It is also a promising technique in the recent draft of the 802.11n MAC. In this paper, we proposed an efficient software/hardware architecture for the IEEE 802.11n HT (high throughput) immediate block ACK mechanism. This architecture takes into account the effects of both performance and implementation cost. We present experimental results to compare performance of the HT immediate block ACK method and the legacy normal ACK and show that our scheme is efficient.
