Partitioned hough transform for ellipsoid detection

Abstract The Hough Transform can detect straight lines in an edge-enhanced picture; however, its extension to detect a 3D ellipsoid requires excessive computing time and memory. This paper presents a partitioned method to reduce both time and space of ellipsoid detection by using the independent properties of ellipsoid parameters. We also use the derivative information of the image to reduce the search range of each parameter.
