At the request of the Road Direction, the equipment Direction of the Cher realised in September 1988 a comparative road work of 10 kms in Porous Asphalt located on the National Highway (RN 76) between Bourges and Mehum sur Yevre. This road work included 10 sections of 1 km: 9 sections were made with generally commercialised products based on modified binder the Administration had a section realised with a specific formulation with doped pure bitumen. The objective of this comparative road work was to appreciate the long term behaviour of the different products from the stand point of permeability speed, grip, mechanical performances, longitudinal evenness, and acoustic performances this road work was followed up several times. After reminding the characteristics of the road work and applied by the companies and the administration, the present article gives the results of the latest follow-up financed by the Service d'Etude Techniques des Routes et Autoroutes and realised in 1995 by the Laboratoire Regional des Ponts et Chaussees of Blois.
