Interface, then and now

Pictured is a very rare (circa. 1960) watch dial—a kind of interface for time telling. The design includes chronograph sub-dials— a kind of interface for time keeping, a 24 hour dial with north indicator arrow—a kind of interface for sun compass navigation, and black and white dial areas—a pictographic interface for night and day modes. The box from a modern device with similar functions and cachet is pictured in the background.
