Mapping and De-mapping in English-Chinese Translation

Cognitive linguistics considers the linguistic representation as a cognitive process. It is embodied by the mapping of source domain upon target domain. Due to the differences in cognitive experience of different language users, the mapping relations between the two domains also vary. In translation one can find the maintaining of original mapping relations, the addition of source domain to target domain, or the recuperation of target domain. All of them can be categorized into mapping and demapping.
