Abstract A simplified model is proposed for analysing the depressurization of gas-filed pressure vessels. The temperatures both the vessel wall and the fluid, the pressure in the vessel as a function of time, along with the minimum temperatures at the end of depressurization, are derived, and the controlling parameters for the depressurization are found. Comparison of results with available experimental data shows that the proposed model can reasonably predict the depressurization process.
