How to evaluate scalability of packet switching network?

Scalable network infrastructure becomes the key factor to realize the function and to keep the performance. This paper presents an efficient method of scalability evaluation of packet switching network based on the analysis of network resources and workload model of applications, and proves that hierarchical infrastructure can make the network more scalable. We analyzed and evaluated the scalability of the packet switching network with basic functions. Through quantitative theoretic analysis, this method can help us deeply understand the limitations of topological organization and routing protocols of the network, and use better design methods to improve the performance of the network.
