ARINC 629, the civil aircraft databus for the 1990s

The existing standard data bus (ARINC 429) has insufficient interconnect flexibility or capacity to meet the demands of future systems communications. As a result the industry is developing a new multiple-access data bus standard, ARINC 629, to meet these needs. the standard is based on the DATAC development work of Boeing Commercial Aircraft. Avionic communications demand a bus which can efficiently convey both time critical data as used in control and monitoring functions in which transmission intervals need to be guaranteed, and file or block data such as for data-link communications for which an adequate throughput capacity is required. >
