The competitive marketplace in the manufacturing industry forces companies not only to reduce life cycle cost but also to increase the reliability and maintainability performance of their production system. The maintenance of production equipment, therefore, has an increasing importance. The evaluation of different maintenance scenarios can only be performed effectively by simulation methods. In this paper, a methodology for maintenance evaluation is presented, including the machine decomposition, life data analysis, simulation process and life cycle cost calculation.
