Noise aware level based routing protocol for underwater sensor networks

In marine science, underwater sensor networking (UWSN) is the most important and interesting arena. A novel noise aware Level Based Routing Protocol (LBRP) is proposed in this paper to contribute in this field. The LBRP is essentially a level-based routing protocol. State information is not needed to be stored and only a small portion of the total nodes are engaged in routing. It also promises the best use of energy consumption and ensures more reliable packet transmission in comparison with others. To lead a packet from source to destination, LBRP calculates the noise, account residual energy, the level in which the node is situated and distance from the forwarding node. The forwarding node is selected calculating a formula proposed in this paper that uses the described terms. Simulation has been experienced both in noisy and noiseless environment and executed to approve better performance of the proposed protocol. The LBRP aims to provide a noise aware, level based and energy efficient under water routing protocol.
