ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR OF WAR-DAMAGED CONCRETE BUILDINGS IN KUWAIT CITY

The damage inflicted by the Iraqi invasion necessitated comprehensive assessment and evaluation of the strucutral safety of all supporting elements and the whole structures of damaged buildings. This article describes the condition survey, and discusses the cause and types of damage. A case study is presented of a multistory commercial building with two underground parking levels, two shopping levels, two more for parking, and one top for residences. The observed damage, core tests, structural analysis and repair are described.
