Analysis of Security Level of Wireless Local Area Networks

Currently the most expanded and worldwide accepted standard for WLANs is the IEEE 802.11 set of standards. This paper analyses the security mechanisms for 802.11 based WLANs and the application level of these mechanisms in different WLANs in the city of Osijek and its rural surrounding. The statistical analysis of collected results is given and comparison with similar investigations has been made. Finally, some suggestions and directions for the improvement of security in wireless local area networks are given.
