Offshore Wind Power Basics

This chapter describes in detail offshore wind energy activity all around the world, from the beginning of its appearance until today, along with an overview and future trends of the technology employed. In addition, the basic concepts of offshore wind farm design and issues concerning installation and maintenance activities are discussed. Finally, the most important economic, environmental, and social considerations throughout the development and operation of offshore wind farms are presented.
