DTC of Induction Motor Drives Fed By Two and Three-Level Inverter: Modeling and Simulation

This paper aims to model two approaches of Direct Torque Control (DTC) of induction motor (IM) drive. First, conventional DTC method is implemented. Then, an improved DTC control is developed by substituting the classical inverter fed the motor drive by a three-phase three-level one. The second control technique attempts to reduce flux and torque ripples caused by the use of hysteresis comparators. The performance of the proposed approach is investigated and results are approved by simulation using Matlab/Simulink environment.
