An Approach for the Planning and Optimization of Energy Consumption in Factories Considering the Peripheral Systems

The manufacturing industry accounts for a large part of energy consumption. The research group “ECOMATION” has developed methodologies to save energy in the manufacturing industry. The described model-based approach supports manufacturers in analyzing and evaluating production scenarios. It forms a basis for the planning and optimization of the energetic behavior of factories considering competitive objectives. It can support production planners and operators to understand the energetic behavior of the factory, to evaluate suitable parameters and develop capable measures and, finally, to integrate an energy-optimized production control to choose the best energetic operating point of the whole production considering the periphery.
