fzMail: A Fuzzy Tool for Organizing E-Mail

In this paper we present a new and alternative approach for automatically classifying the email documents into a fuzzy hierarchical structure. We have used data mining and fuzzy logic techniques to solve this problem. The FISCRM model (based on the fuzzy synonymy interrelation and the fuzzy generality interrelation) is used to achieve a conceptual representation of the messages. A softclustering algorithm is also used for categorizing the documents and the defined folders. Using both mechanisms we get an efficient organization of the mailbox. This contribution then allows us to develop a portable and easy-to-use tool (fzMail) for efficient e-mail management. This tool will take under consideration the existing structure and the user preferences for classifying a new mail.
