A Proposal of Generating Artistic Japanese Calligraphic Fonts

The purpose of this paper is to show a proposal of generating artistic calligraphic fonts. Japanese calligraphic art is to write brush characters by using a writing brush and black ink. Also, it is very popular art in Japan, China and so on. Needless to say, the brush characters are hand writing characters. The artists’ pen (brush) pressure, pen speed, and ink quantity are very important factors for the artistic effect. A calligraphic character consists of several brush strokes. In Japanese calligraphic art, the artistic effect appears in the compositions, which are the position of each brush stroke and the stroke shape itself, but here we limit the discussion to scratched and blurred look of calligraphic characters.
