School Leadership and Performance: A Social Network Approach

Du fait de l'egalitarisme qui prevaut aupres des enseignants, ces derniers ont tendance a n'accorder et a ne soutenir que les directeurs d'etablissement qui font preuve de competence dans le domaine pedagogique. Les AA. estiment que cette conception ideologique empeche le developpement dans les etablissements scolaires d'un leadership informel. Ils montrent en meme temps que si le directeur ne dispose pas des pleins pouvoirs cela tendra a nuire a la coordination et au controle de l'activite de l'etablissement. Ils examinent, a l'aide d'une enquete menee en 1990 aux Etats-Unis (Californie) dans 17 ecoles du primaire et du secondaire et en utilisant l'analyse de reseau, le role des chefs d'etablissement en ce qui concerne le leadership et les performances scolaires
