Application of DTx Technology to Coal Mine Communication

The problems in need of immediate solutions in coal mine communication are feeble antiinterference ability and poor speech quality. By autoregulating opening and closing of transmitter during speech or silence periods, discontinuous transmission (DTx) can reduce the interference, in return increases speech quality and saves power wasting, especially this technology is comported with large noise underground coal mine. This paper discusses DTx principle and correlative techniques, such as voice activity detection (VAD) and comfort noise generation (CNG). The application of DTx technology to mine mobile communication is discussed lastly.
