One of the necessary issues in designing buildings is to simulate building’s energy consumption in energy consumption simulation softwares before constructing it. The mentioned programs generally calculate hourly energy consumption inside the building during the year. None of the simulation programs have the possibility of showing optimized conditions automatically and the user should model some conditions and obtain the optimized condition based on evaluating the results. In this research, using Building Energy Optimizer Software on outer wall of north side of three sample buildings with different insulation patterns in three cities of Iran (Ardabil, Tehran, and Shiraz), simulation and optimization have been researched. In obtained results optimizing percentage of energy consumption for various situations comparing with the primary situation; with change optimal place, type, and thickness of insulations in outer layers with change in the number of floors in building have been investigated. Results show in outer walls of north side with 75-milimeter Poly Roll insulation in a 12floor building, the lowest energy consumption is obtained and with increase in the building height, optimizing percentage also increases.
