The minutes of evidence contain a memorandum submitted by the Automobile Association and a memorandum submitted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. The views of the Association and of the Society on the following topics are set out: standards of vehicle construction, MOT tests, standards of driver training and examination, motor cycle rider training and examination, pedal cycle rider training, pedestrians' awareness of good road practice, road lighting and vehicle lighting, speed limits, drink and driving, cost-effective engineering solutions, monitoring the impact of the 1981 transport act, extent of enforcement, accident research.
