Thispaperpresents thedesign andimplementation ofa mathematical unit, which isgenerated automatically, froma program elaborated inJavathatdescribes thecircuit in VHDL,ready tobesynthesized withtheXilinx ISEtool. Thecorecontains diverse complex operations suchas: mathematical functions including; sine, cosine, among others. Theproposed unitisusedtosynthesize asliding modecontroller foramagnetic levitation system. This kind ofsystem isusedinindustrial applications requiring high level mathematical calculations insmall timeperiods. The coreisdesigned tocalculate trigonometric andarithmetic operations insuch awaythat eachfunction isperformed in aclock cycle. Inthis paper theresults ofthemathematical coreareshownintermsofimplementation, utilization and application tocontrol amagnetic levitation system.
