Incomplete linguistic preference relations to evaluate multimedia authoring system

MCMD problems with fuzzy preference information on alternatives are essential problems of the importance of weighting and ranking. In this study, the AHP method is reviewed, and then Fuzzy PreRa and incomplete linguistic preference relations methods are elucidated. This study applied above three MCDM methods to a software selection problem proposed by Lai et al. [Software selection: a case study of the application of the analytical hierarchical process to the selection of a multimedia authoring system, Information and Management, Vol. 36, 1999, pp. 221-232.]. The outcome obtained by Fuzzy PreRa and incomplete linguistic preference relations methods almost coincides with that produced by the AHP method, also with the least judgments. The result shows that the approach developed is simple and comprehensible in concept, efficient in computation, and robust in modeling human evaluation processes which make it of general use for solving practical qualitative multi-criteria problems.
