Design of CMOS UWB low noise amplifier with cascode feedback

This paper shows the design of a broadband single-stage single-ended low noise amplifier (LNA) for the frequency range 3GHz to 7GHz using 0.18/spl mu/m RF CMOS technology. The cascode feedback topology and broadband matching technique were used in the amplifier to achieve broad bandwidth performance and input/output matching characteristics respectively. The effects of feedback resistor on noise figure (NF) and gain were also described. In the operating frequency range, 1.9dB of NF, 15dB of the gain, and 0.8dB of maximum gain flatness were achieved, and the maximum input/output return loss is lower than -1OdB. The total power consumption of the LNA including bias network is 21mW under a 1.8V single supply voltage.
