Durability characteristics of controlled low-strength materials containing recycled bottom ash

The main intent of this research is to determine the feasibility of utilising recycled bottom ash as a controlled low-strength material (CLSM). A comprehensive study of bottom ash in CLSM and mixture proportions indicates that this type of bottom ash is a suitable ingredient in CLSM. The durability characteristics of CLSM manufactured with bottom ash under various physical and chemical deterioration conditions were investigated. Long-term compressive strength tests, water permeability tests, repeated freezing and thawing cycle tests, and repeated wetting–drying cycle tests were conducted. Results show that by mixing CLSM with bottom ash, acceptable CLSM material can be developed.
